Cutty Sark Figurehead

Took a run (on wheels not legs!) over to Inverbervie to blip the Hercules Linton Memorial which stands at the North end of the town. It is a full size replica of the figurehead of the tea clipper ‘Cutty Sark’. Hercules Linton designed the Cutty Sark and was born in Inverbervie in 1837.  The figurehead is the witch Nannie from Robert Burns' poem Tam o' Shanter.  The story of why the ship was called the Cutty Sark and got the figurehead is quite complicated  -  however this link gives a bit of info.  It has been a very dull day and the shot isn't very good  -  I'll probably go back in the Summer and blip her again. The extras include the Plaque describing the Memorial, and the notice in The Bervie Chipper window about their change of policy re credit cards - just in case anyone wants to take a run out to Bervie for their fish and chips  -  take some cash☺
