Mono Monday . . . Beginnings

I have found it hard to choose today's image.  This morning I walked around only a block of the city and found several good scenes showing the continued rebirth of the city after the 2011 earthquake.  This one was from where I parked the car.  Vacant pieces of land are used as temporary car parks.  You take your life in your hands walking over the broken ground which was once the foundations of a building.  The derelict buildings are covered in graffiti which is a subject that could occupy a photographer for hours.  There are not so many cranes on the skyline now but this one stands beside the beginning structure of a new building. 
P.S overnight I had a change of heart and have added an extra of a less processed version of the image.
