The dropped stitch

Last day

The contrasts of a Shetland life.
In Lerwick today the large supermarket car park was packed. No spaces! My blip is of the road north. Empty!

Last day of loft sorting for me.

First thing in the morning the twenty simethings arrived. A bit bleary eyed. With the gale expected to worsen they had rushed to get the ferry down from Unst while there was still one running. Each came in from the car carrying something for the New Year gathering: a pan of reestit mutton soup, cold beef for the bannocks, sleeping bags, overnight bags, instruments.

It was lovely to start the day with the kitchen full of visitors.

Lunch with M in town and I took a van load to the recycling centre.

Back north for the afternoon and then west to J for a quiet New Year celebration. Good company, sweet wine and the giant crossword in the Shetland Times. Perfect!
