All About Europe Tour….
………………………………Paris to Bordeaux
BACK BLIP
After two nights in Paris our next stop is Bordeaux, where we are staying one night.
Our morning tea stop was in the delightful village of Ambroise and lunch was at Tours. (Photos still to be sorted and uploaded later)
I found this modern bridge at Bordeaux fascinating - the platform at the top is lifted high allowing passage of ships to travel further upstream. We were lucky to be driving past while it was ‘in action’.
Update
Pont Jacquea Chaban Delmas is a vertical-lift bridge over the Garonne in Bordeaux. Construction was completed in 2012 and officially opened in March 2013. At 575 metres long and 77 metres high, it is the tallest lift bridge in France.
EXTRA
- Loire River near Ambroise, through the tinted bus window. I rather liked the effect. The plain building is Eglise Notre Dame du Bout des Ponts which was founded in 1521 and now closed.
-A collage giving a glimpse of the city of Bordeaux. Note the ship in the top left photo - it would have passed under the bridge featured in the main photo of the blip.
