Ice Breaker

Nice flurry of excitement. Lots of noise which sounded like a vehicle revving, stuck on ice - and it was , unexpectedly, a canal boat reversing and revving in a scramble of bubbles and then forcing its way forward through the thick ice on the canal to break it up, with huge crunches and cracks - all from my kitchen window.
