Today's the day ……………………………… to stay on the road

It's nice to think that although we've moved to a different place, when we drive home from Edinburgh, we can still travel along the A701.

It's one of our favourite roads through the Scottish Borders, because it takes you along the valley of the River Tweed, right to where the river first appears.  Then you go up over the Devil's Beeftub - always dramatic whatever the weather - and make the slow descent along Annandale, to the lovely little town of Moffat. 

The sun was very low in the sky by the time we got to here, picking out all the contours of the landscape.  It looked as if a green velvet cloth had been shaken out to land on top of lots of bits and pieces left on the table beneath ………………………..!
