Yellow Stagshorn
The weather forecast for the day was glorious sunshine, and as all the subsequent days were forecast to be cloudy, Chris and I decided to make the most of the brightness and go for a stroll round Wakerley Woods.
We were on the lookout for earth-stars, but failed completely in our quest. However, we did find a number of other fungi, and several rather local mosses. This was possibly the brightest of our finds, the very common Yellow Stagshorn, here growing on buried conifer wood. It's colour was only matched by the Orange-peel Fungus found growing on some bare clay by a path (see extra).
