Breakfast
Why can’t breakfast be like this every morning?
For centuries (when the kids were VERY young) we have had a W’s traditional Christmas morning breakfast.
The kids were allowed one present to open, then we all sat round and had bacon and mushroom sandies, then they (we) were allowed the rest of the presents.
Since the kids left home (yes that tradition stood firm until the were quite old!) Mrs W and I have updated the tradition to bacon sandies in bed, with our main pressies.
This year we did get up first and opened our pressies after our sandies, and it would be rude not to play with them – wouldn’t it?? Mrs W wanted a grown up Lego set, and I settled for a bottle of Talisker 57deg North.
Today is for ourselves, and I’ve cleaned the oven, mopped the kitchen floor, vacuumed downstairs and cooked the meats ready for tomorrow, all in all an enjoyable day so far. I hope Mrs W is going to cook my dinner now. Tomorrow we are open house with a running buffet for boxing day, and all the rest of the pressies.
Merry Christmas to you all.
