LAKELAND AND GRASMERE

Such a dreich day today, drizzly, low cloud and grey so Mum and I went to Lakeland Plastics in Windermere for a browse.  They were offering free samples of non-alcoholic spiced apple juice, or alcoholic mulled wine.  I, sadly had to have the apple juice as I was driving but Mum was "forced" to sample the mulled wine.  She liked it so much that when we visited their lovely café instead of coffee she had another glass of mulled wine.

By midday the rain had stopped but it was still grey and low cloud so I took her for a drive up to Grasmere.  The stunning views with fluffy low lying clouds were in areas where I couldn't park to take photos and Mum being 87 she isn't able to walk as much as she used to so I just had to be satisfied with admiring it whilst concentrating on driving as well.

We then had a walk around Grasmere (well shuffle for my Mum really) and the parking was FREE - yep everywhere in Cumbria the parking's been free on Sundays only.  That is amazing really 'cos car parking here isn't cheap.

Anyway the photo is of St Oswald's church in the centre of Grasmere and William Wordsworth is buried in the grounds.  There is an extra shot of my Mum just about to enjoy her cup of mulled wine.
