Collage #2

This is the second in a series of collages I'm making using my photographs (birds). It is mixed media, using a variety of techniques, including watercolor, transfers, making your own paper, pen and ink, and acrylic.

The photographs are zeroxed from an original photo that was changed to black and white. After the zerox (and possible resizing), the photo is taped and burnished and the paper is put in water and rubbed off the tape...all that remains is the ink and the clear tape, which then is applied to a stretched canvas that has been prepared with gesso.

Then the fun begins....layers and layers of paper, paint, drawing, and embellishments (stamps, wine bottle tops, etc) are added. It is sealed with a clear liquitex gloss finish, and then framed in a float frame.
