Broken Dreams
A shot that I took this morning as part of a photo essay post that I want to blog.
Today is Thursday, a shooting day in Portugal. We decided to be circumspect and keep away from the Municipal hunting zone that surrounds us here. Happily for us, there are a couple of excluded areas and these are both undeveloped housing estates. One lies to each side of the camp site. One of them is wholly undeveloped, with just one uncompleted house, now decaying (the other has a scattered handful of properties, some half developed, others inhabited).
The roads are in, as are the street lights and footpaths, now overgrown with scrub. The houses were simply never built. Guessing that Sagres was booming and things looking rosy until the Recession arrived. Plans were made and projects started but they simply never had a chance to complete.
It is sad and rather spooky but offers safe walking on hunting days and dry walking on muddy ones.
This is one of the street lights, never lit (as we noticed that the electricity supply poles to the estate are in but have never been connected) but now smashed.
(A couple of backblips forthcoming but only boring food photos, posting as nothing else available)
