Jelly not jam

This is the last jar of jelly from this years batch of brambles. Looks like it's all going to be eaten this year. Usually I make jam but went the extra distance and made jelly this year. Usually there are a few pots still lurking, unused, in the back of the fridge from the previous year.

This is how I fool myself that I could live independently of the produce of the modern post industrial world. When the apocalypse happens and we're thrown back on our most basic instincts for survival, I know I will abide because I can make yummy jelly out of brambles picked from a hedge by the side of the road.
