Caesar's Camp

Caesar's Camp is on Tweseldown in Hampshire. It is part of an area of military land. It isn't the most beautiful of places but is a large wide open expanse.

Apparently it is an Iron Age hill fort and there are remains of an earth works dating back to the Iron Age; and I think some Stone Age tools have been found there. You don't get much of a sense of the history though, or at least I don't, but there is a lot of flint! Military use and road building have destroyed the remains but if it hadn't been army land it would've probably been built on by now. I always wonder when it'll become part of Farnborough airfield as it backs on to it and what with the army cuts it is a real possibility.

For now though it remains a good place for a cycle, walk, climb and picnic. It was cloudy today but you can get quite good views. Really glad I got out today.
