The amazing....

Clava Cairns, 4000 years old. one of the interpretation panels mentions how the Bronze Age farmers found this time of year depressing, low light, cold weather and dead crops. This is why they aligned the entrance to two of the five cairns to coincide with the winter solstice, when the sunlight shines along the entrance to strike the back wall. How did they have this knowledge?
Several of the stones are ornamented with Cup and Ring markings.
