So deck those halls Trim those trees
In our little corner of the Blipsphere, there are houses, and there are houses.
One such "house" sits on the very, very, edge of the town. At the very, very edge of the "big houses". This house is a house on it's own. Frognal House was built (the original anyways) around 1910. I think there was a burning down, and then a rebuild.
Apparently in the "olden" days, the family who were in the house - hosted Summer Garden parties, when the not so fortunate families in town were invited up to partake in running games and egg and spoon races, and they were awarded lashings, and lashings of ginger beer.
Then it became a nursing home, and then it lay in disrepair for quite some time; then a local hotellier bought it and did it up with the intention of making it an exclusive use hotel, but ended up living in it himself. My son, bless him; told him that he needed to update the furniture. It looked too dated.
I'm sure he didn't take his advice on board, but the house did go up for sale and then it was purchased by two lottery winners.
Each year since then, we have been awarded the sight of these lights. I'll give them this- they have got a little better each year. One year, they were green and purple and red. and the house was lit up green. It was astonishing.
Just goes to show- money doesn't buy you everything .
