Silent disco

A very cultural day. 

This morning I went down to the Queens Gallery and used my annual ticket to see the new exhibition there. Charles II Art and power. It is mostly paintings and mezzotints with a some pieces of silverware and a few miniatures. 

The accompanying headset and recorded guide was very good, giving historical and political background to the collection whilst giving insight into the characters portrayed in the paintings. All those pretty women in their diaphanous silks and opulent pearls showing off their relationship with the reinstated king. 

Then I popped into town and met a friend and she suggested the City Art Centre. There are three floors open at the moment. The top is modern stuff with political commentary on immigration. Then black and white photos of Edinburgh in the sixties (I commented to K that I did not remember the 'lamp post exhibition' in Princes Street Gardens. She replied 'that's because it was before you were born.' She was right too. Then there was a floor of stuff by one of those early twentieth century artists that painted people green and trees triangular. 

We finished off with a wander up the bridges. 

I popped into the pub and failed to help D complete the crossword. Next time. 

This blip is of a 'silent disco' in Hunter's Square. They were all having a great time, but it really wasn't that silent.
