Goodwill

I got out of the office for a bit today, on community engagement duties.

Every year at this time the Boss, a national supermarket chain and a local printing business come together to create a card to be delivered to 3,000 selected voters in the constituency - mostly older people.

It takes the form of a competition among pupils at local primary schools to come up with the best illustration for the front of the card. Today the four finalists came to the printers to find out who the winner is.

The other three finalists' illustrations appear on the back of the card. As well as a bag of goodies from the supermarket, the winner is given a day out at Parliament (with a parent). It includes tickets for the public gallery for First Minister's Questions and lunch in the Members' restaurant.

My role was vital - picking up one of the finalists and driving her to the printing business.

The Blip is the moment when the press started to push the printed cards out. Much excitement.
