a late night was followed by an early morning and the journey to Doñana National Park . We didn't have time to do the full four hour tour but we did get to go somewhere that isn't in the tour - the restricted area for biological research. It's a place that one can only get into if one is running a related project and, luckily, one of us was....this vast area is allowed to do what it will and is stuffed full of wildlife and rare plants. We went to see the wild-living cattle and horses. In the middle of area is an old hunting lodge which is used as a base for the scientists. I loved this old door to what would've been the porters lodge revealing the modern office behind it.
After looking at horses and doing some wildlife spotting we headed to El Rocio where someone was busy cooking some of the wild cows for us. He went slightly over the top with it and we had to beg for mercy and run away to the airport but I can honestly say, I've never eaten such delicious meat. He prepared it in all different ways so we could really appreciate its qualities. I think I ate a whole cow....
