Substation

I decided to cycle - nay, voyage! - to Aranda, a suburb on the other side of Black Mountain. My route took me through the (not so) deadly Black Mountain pass.

Getting to the path was really confusing. I passed loads of old abandoned buildings and active greenhouses, right next to the "Black Mountain Laboratories" CSIRO complex. Very creepy.

After passing a few gates and keep out signs, I finally reached the substation, pictured.

Cycling on the pass was surreal. As I ventured further, huge mobs of unnatural looking bouncing rat creatures dispersed into the distance. I can only assume they were some biproduct of the freakish genetic experiments conducted at the Black Mountain Laboratories.
