Murchison Sprint Rally
Today the Murchison Sprint Car Rally was held from the Six Mile Powerstation up to Horse Terrace at the top of the Valley. Teams from all over the South Island participated, and with the shingle road being extremely dry at the moment, there was dust for miles. It took the cars approximately 20 minutes to race up to the top of the valley, and another 20 minutes to race back down. The road was closed to normal traffic, although it was reopened every half hour to let the traffic (mainly the milk tankers) through. The local Playcentre was there fundraising with a BBQ lunch, and also selling rides in the rally cars for $20.00. It was amazing the number of people that were purchasing a ride.
As you can imagine, I took many photos - mainly testing my panning skills, and out of all those photos there were only about a dozen that had panned clearly enough to use for blip. This photo was the best! A great afternoon's entertainment, and it is always good to catch up with other people from the Community.
Thank you for everyone's advice regarding taking macro photos. I took this advice on board, so this morning I again spent time using TeeJay's macro. Son T went looking for things to photograph, and found this grass grub. I thought it was a pretty good attempt - what do you think? Grass grubs are a farmers worst enemy, so I'm afraid to say that after this photo was taken, the grub was no long a grub!
