A light in the distance
Wide Wednesday: Water Scene
"There's a house on the headland overlooking the sea
They're burning a lantern by day and by night, it is burning for me.
There's a fire on the far hill, it's a warning to be
They're burning a beacon by day and by night, it is burning for me.
I long to feel the anchor down when they ring the harbour bell
It's good to be back home again and know that all is well
And when the stormy southern seas are running wild and free
You light a lamp of love at home, it is burning for me.
There's a light in the distance, it is easy to see
They're burning a candle by day and by night, it is burning for me
It is burning for me."
The Strawbs ~ Burning for Me
The light in the distance in this shot, reflecting off Bristol's Floating Harbour, is illuminating the Merchant Navy War Memorial. A memorial to the seamen who lost their lives in two world wars. A suitable subject for Bob's Blips water scene challenge I thought.
