Jay

On my lunchtime walks I quite often see or hear jays. There are a lot of them in Lickey Woods and sometimes they visit our garden. When I started my 365 day blip project in April I was sure that a jay would feature at least once.

They are quite shy birds, so it can be difficult to get close enough to them for a good photo. Several times I have had the camera poised on one only for it to fly off before I could press the shutter. Today's blip is my best effort so far. I was close to the end of my walk when a jay obligingly flew across the path and perched in a nearby shrub, making a lot of noise to ensure it had my attention. It remained there just long enough for me to get this shot.
