Today I got an email from the security people at Parliament with a couple of forms to complete for my security clearance. 

They need to know some personal details about my parents - both dead for some time. If a parent was a terrorist sympathiser but is dead, is that not different from a living parent who is a terrorist sympathiser?

Well, my late dad was a social democrat and in the context of UK politics right now...

Anyway, I digress. I can easily remember their birthdays, but not which years they were born in. This will mean a visit to the archive, deep within the locked crypt, to seek answers. 

The point is, his birthday was today. How strange to be asked about it today. 365-1 odds, I reckon.
