Poppies
Today was supposed to be a day in Sheffield with Helen and her son Ben, ending with a gig, but the gig was cancelled. Instead we went to a local village, where Helen grew up, and had a look at the poppy cascade at the church, and the other displays around the village. The weather was appropriately somber.
We took Gracie, the dog on the right with us, leaving the boisterous Bonny with Helen’s husband. He took her to meet a third Scottish Deerhound, one that they are rehoming due to a house move and no room for her anymore. For Isla, the new dog, it’s a blessing. She current,y lives outside, but will be one of the family when she gets to Helens. They going to need a bigger bed!
Sadly, the reason they need a third dog is that Gracie has bone cancer and her days are few now. They are just going to keep her as happy as they can until the fateful day ... and Isla will be there to keep Bonny company when her mum passes. So sad.
