Something New
If you haven't seen one before, this a carrom board. I remember watching the film Striker and thinking it would be an interesting game to play.
I think I need to find some better rules than the ones that arrived with my set. Whoever wrote them has a somewhat tenuous grasp of Englisch. I find the rules rather confusing. Here are a few samples:-
"If the Queen is comfirmed with an opponent's stone, the opponent will thank you sincerely for both of these stones - if he is friendly."
Got that? Then try this:-
"Before the Queen is dropped into a hole and confirmed by one of both players, the set cannot be finished."
And if you're feeling up to it:-
"If the Queen is dropped into a hole, and in the same throw the striker, the Queen and one of your own stones, which is already in a hole, are placed back into the centre of the playing field. Then, it's the opponent's turn."
I suspect these chaps write IBM manuals as well.
We had a good night out last night. I had the poshest Currywurst ever - really, although I was told "die Soße kommt aus France" which I'm going to assume meant that it came from Frankreich* rather than out of someone called Franz**.
In contrast to yesterday's blue skies and sunshine, we've been decked in grey and drear for all of today. No worries though, we're home, we have cats and we're warm.
*Frankreich = German name for France
** Doesn't bear thinking about
