Tuesday: Iconic Palms

It was our last day today so we explored a couple of neighbourhoods.  On the recommendation of Hector, who served us breakfast every morning, we went to Hillcrest, the gay heart of San Diego.  Following on from that, we went and explored Little Italy - both interesting in different ways.

Then lunch before heading to the airport to fly back home to Vancouver.  It's been an excellent trip - 5 days away can be as relaxing as a longer trip, something that's worth remembering.

And a real bonus was how good our hotel was - they gave us loads for free stuff, waiving the breakfast charge for each day as well as our bar bill for the evening we had a few drinks at the roof top bar.  We can't quite work out why they've been so generous.......

This shot was neither Hillcrest, nor Little Italy - it's close to our hotel.  But I really like the palms as they feel so Southern California to me.
