Quiet Evening
by Carly Simon
Another day spent clearing my mother's apartment. We had progress but did not complete the work. We agreed on the next dates to continue. On the way back, fetched our stuff from the summer cottage. In the morning we had carried the boat and the jetty ashore, and disconnected the water pump and the pipes as the forecast was showing minus degrees. The lake was so quiet and calm in the evening as the temperature was dropping.
