Armistice 100
Blipfoto is very proud to be one of the British Library’s 100 Websites, which they judge will be essential reading for future generations researching our life and times. Their entry for Blipfoto is ‘A ……. community site with each member publishing one photo per day, demonstrating the extraordinary diversity of everyday life’.
Yesterday, we commemorated 100 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the first world war. Across the world, these commemorations took place and the Blipfoto community was there to record what happened. The images and words shared on journals evoke a special time and one that we will be able to look back on in years to come.
We’ve picked out just a small collection of the entries in this blog post. There have been so many ways that members have recorded the day, but each in its own way is special. If you want to view them all, just follow the link to the tagged entries #Armistice100. It’s not too late to add your entry from the day, just edit your post and add the tag #Armistice100. There is no time limit on doing this. The more that are tagged the greater the record for those future generations.
