Art deco delight
One of my favourite Glasgow buildings, an art deco classic.
It's called the Beresford Hotel and was very grand in its heyday. Nowadays it houses flats and - unfortunately - a Tesco Extra.
One wee bit of trivia. In 1939 the SS Athenia, carrying many US passengers, was torpedoed by a U-boat and many survivors were taken to this hotel. They were visited by the US ambassador to Britain, Joseph Kennedy and his teenage son, the future President JFK.
