How's that for a six-pack?
Statues like this are apparently found round the world. They are called 'atalantes' and they always appear as though they are holding up the lintel or the column of a building. They seem to have flourished in Greek and Ottoman architecture.
This fellow is tucked away down Granville Street in Glasgow at the back entrance of the Mitchell Library.
I was tempted to tickle his armpit to see what would happen - maybe the whole place would have collapsed.
