Nicky and her Nikon

Photo walk around Spitalfields

Last night we enjoyed the movie Bohemian Rhapsody very much. It took 8 years to make due to problems and disagreements and the actor initially selected to portray Freddie Mercury was Sachen Baron Cohen, but the final actor chosen, Rami Malek, did an excellent job as Freddie. The music was superb! The cinema was full of people of our age group, I think we are the generation who really like Queen (actually so do my boys)

Today I joined a Nikon walk around Brick Lane and Spitalfields, photographing graffiti, street art and buildings. That area has become quite a tourist destination of people seeking out the ever changing street art, I noticed many foreign (German and French) people walking around with cameras. The weather was lovely, blue skies and sunny so it was a good day to be out. You always meet like minded and interesting people on these walks and of course all being Nikon users you can compare notes on camera settings and photography techniques - which would be boring to someone not into cameras, but I find it very useful. Plus you get to see the latest models as someone always has one and today I got to see the new Nikon mirrorless camera the Z7, feel it in my hand and hear how it performs (and no I am not getting one....)

We then had a late lunch at a trendy BBQ restaurant in Shoreditch which quite frankly was delicious but too much meat for me! Not a place for veggies to visit. To be fair they had wonderful side dishes of roasted beetroot and another one of broccoli and kale with chillies and nuts.

We finished the walk at about 4.30pm and it did not make sense for me to go home as we had theatre tickets tonight to see The Height of the Storm with Dame Eileen Atkins and Jonathan Pryce, two very fine actors. It is part of a group booking with the school arts society. The play was superb -confusing at times, but as the main character has dementia I think that was all part of the playwrights intention in writing this play. The acting was exceptional, especially considering that Dame Eileen Atkins is 84 years old and I am sure would like to be at home slonked on the sofa with a cup of tea instead of performing live on stage.

I took about 200 photos today and I have barely had a chance to look at them since we got home so I am quickly uploading two images from today's walk.
