Bully Beef ....
A day of two halves, one more productive than the other !
First job was a 3 bike rodeo to get bulls in from the field at the road end . As usual there were some that were a bit lame and couldn’t be put out to work. They run all summer no bother then as soon as it gets to this time of year they start fighting and carrying on and half of them go lame !
Spent the rest of the morning hauling 5 of them out to various lots of cows.
The plan for the afternoon was to clip and dose the heifers that came down off the hill on Friday. We clip a bare strip along their back to help them regulate their heat once housed.
However the 2nd beast into the crush clattered the head stock and bent the metal bar connecting the two doors. This meant stripping down the whole thing and after a lot of hammering and welding and the odd sweary word it’s back together . Will need to try again tomorrow .
A run along the road in the dark tonight with a 15 ft metal gate on the loader to block a hole where one lot of cattle smashed a road side gate. With trees on both sides of the single track road it was a tight squeeze. Luckily the road was quiet as definitely not room to pass any one !
