Diary of an Edinburgher

Leith treat

I was up the hill with Archie before 9am today! Unheard of. We were busy later in the day, and he was going to stay with Rufus and his mum for the afternoon. JR went to the gym, but I counted a brisk walk slow shuffle up to the bench as my exercise. What a beautiful morning it was - there was a rainbow over the city.

Yes, we had a treat - Elizabeth had given JR a meal voucher for her birthday. Not just any meal voucher, but a very special restaurant down in Leith. And it was super - the little amuse-bouches were exquisite (eg a tiny bowl of mushroom velouté, served with a seaweed cracker topped with smoked salmon and caviar , and a tiny spoon - yum!!). The service was impeccable, and yay! There was no muzak. That's always a winner with me.

Archie had a nice time, not bothering too much about the workmen who came and went at Christine's.

Back home, fire on, blinds drawn. Archie is confused - it's dark, so he thinks it's his tea time, but it’s only 4.30.
