Leftovers for dinner

I thought I'd have a go with the 'M' mode on my camera today to take a picture of the leftovers from last nights dinner. With this shot I've tried to focus on the sausages with their unique lines & texture. My camera assures me that I had the correct exposure but I'm eager to hear your opinion.
Also, do you have any tips for taking good photographs of food in any setting?
