Greenwich
This was the first day of a weekend break in London. We came down specifically to see the winning images of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2012. The exhibition is at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
The photographs were of course all superb, but my favourite turned out to be one of the night sky over Réunion Island that I had seen in an article on the BBC website, which first brought the exhibition to my attention. You can see it here.
Unfortunately, it being yet another miserably wet day, I have had to make do with a less awesome image for my blip. It is the view from the Royal Observatory towards the National Maritime Museum, with the office blocks of Canary Wharf beyond. I remember this view looking delightful on the TV in the summer when it was the equestrian venue for the Olympic Games. It didn't look quite so grand today.
