Nicky and her Nikon

Fly Agaric

I set off on my dog walk to the heath thinking I would find some intricate spider webs to photograph  - I didn't, but I was pleased to find this Fly Agaric hidden under soil, leaves and grass. It was perfectly formed and no one had nibbled at it yet, so I presume it has popped up recently.

I had a productive day - I managed to create two photo books today, I found once I got into the swing of things it was easier to just carry on and complete the second one too. I like to create photo books of special holidays and events, but I am a bit behind and still have two more to make.

Tomorrow I am going on a half day course on how my camera works - it's more about all the new features since the previous model. I could not get on to the course at the Nikon School, that is full until February next year, but I managed to find a course run by Park Cameras in London. The tutor emailed me today to say I am the only one booked on the course, so would I mind a one to one session? No I wouldn't, how fantastic will that be? My camera has some very advanced features and it's best to learn how to use them properly, so hopefully I will come home tomorrow a bit more knowledgeable. If there is time I may pop in to see the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize exhibition even though every year it frustrates me with the peculiar selection of winners.

Thomas is working hard, he has a university entrance exam next week which is known to be the toughest one around. However he also has a fair amount of 18th birthday parties to go to - I suppose it is half term so its a good time to have them.

Thank you for all the kind hearts on yesterday's black swan
