2018 Friday — Cayucos to Monterey
We drove away from Cayucos this morning with Monterey as our destination. Our first stop was to eat breakfast at a lovely place called Centrally Grown, which is a fine restaurant located just a couple miles above the main area of Cambria, and it has the best view!
Thirty-five minutes later, we drove right past Ragged Point without stopping because we had already eaten, but the place was packed with cars.
Our next stop was Nepenthe (see the photo of the Big Sur view from there). We had stopped there in August and one of the things we purchased was a pencil that has soft lead and is great for grading papers, but the pencil is difficult to sharpen, so I wanted to purchase the pencil sharpener that is designed for that pencil, and I did. The gift shop is so filled with wonderful and beautiful books that it is dangerous for us to be in there; buying books is a weakness of ours.
Our next stop was Carmel. We found a place to walk the pups and then we put them back in the car and we walked to the Carmel Bakery. The place is filled with deliciousness and I enjoy communicating with the owner on Instagram.
Then we were headed to Monterey to get checked-in at our motel and then go out scouting where the parking structures are so we can park our car (with pups) in the shade tomorrow while we are on the tour of Ed Ricketts’ laboratory.
Then dinner — El Torito has a large parking lot, so that helped us make a decision.
