I'm off!
A morning that didn't really go as planned! Never mind!
Another walk on the Common this afternoon. MrM went off in to the woods to retrieve his squirrel-monitoring camera, while I did several 'laps' of the path - satisfies my need for photo opportunities, as well as some walking at a slightly faster.
The first 'lap' was quite magical, mostly because there was no-one else around! All around the path, numerous small birds of all sorts, especially around the feeders. As I stood quietly, a sudden chattering sound from the tree above caught my attention, and I spotted this little guy running up the trunk. It proceeded to run up and down trees, leaping from branch to branch, as if showing off its skill and agility! Further round the path, another red squirrel, this time on the feeder. In the stell (small walled garden), daisies, honeysuckle, michaelmas daisies and several other plants are still in flower. Wonderful! It wasn't long before several cars arrived in the car park, and their occupants walked around the path - dogs barking, children yelling, adults shouting at dogs and children. No squirrels to be seen on subsequent 'laps', and very few birds. Ah well, it was too good to last, and the Common is for everyone to enjoy...
In the evening MrM drove us in to Berwick for a Highlights' concert by Bon Débarras, a folk(ish) trio from Québec. Some great music and the foot percussion was brilliant!
