Birthday treat

Yet another full on day, much of it spent chairing the Hearings Management Group. We had extensive discussions on effective participation, which arose out of a paper on videoconferencing; managing attendance at hearings; respect (or lack out it at times) in the hearing room and what might be done about it; the role of chairs and chairing and looked at some interesting and helpful work to support chairs; legal cases and their consequences on practice; continuity and digital and other developments.

A long standing commitment to attend the belated 60th birthday celebrations of friends. Their birth announcements (though born one day apart) appeared in The Scotsmanon the same day and a quarter of a century later they were married.

Their birthday celebrations consisted of a private screening of The Angels’ Share. A great feel good humorous film with dashes of intense violence and peppered with language one would not wish to explain to one’s mother.

Back to their house for food and refreshments.

The film was screened at the Dominion Cinema: a privately operated cinema which has been there since my childhood.

The sign outside the door summed up our friends’ relationship
