Market Day
We went into town to meet Emma for morning coffee at Nero via the market. Stratford has two market days, Friday for the normal fruit and veg etc. and Saturday, alternating between the farmers market and antiques & collectibles. Today was the turn of the latter, always quite interesting and full of older people saying "oh I had one of those and threw it away" or "ten pounds for that, I paid 2/6 back in 1962".
Stratford also seems to be going through a phase of LARGE characters at the moment. There were two seven foot angels at the market, but at least these were angelic looking as opposed to the clodhopping seven foot fairy of a couple a days ago who was more reminiscent of the giant from Jack and the beanstalk!
Today's photo shows Ann haggling with a stall holder over some trinket or other; that's not strictly true, I think she was just looking!
Tonight were braving the dark, rain and floods to travel to Evesham where we're meeting Jo and James for a curry. If we're not back by the morning send out search parties, or at least a tractor!
Late News: Made it to and from Evesham without being washed down the river, although it was fairly torrential rain on the way home and the main road was beginning to flood. We went to The Blue Lagoon on Waterside, Evesham for a curry. I had a very acceptable Bhuna washed down with a pint of Cobra.
The river there was flooded, and Waterside had been closed off to traffic, though it seems to have subsided a little and we didn't have to wear wellies in the restaurant.
