Between fen and mountains

A giant awakes

I could hear the river roaring from the house.  Our neighbouring department has had it worse with three months rain in six hours, bridges and buildings swept away and sadly 13 dead. We had the same in 1940 when the centre of the village and the grand hotels were swept away.  The Cady rages but all I can see by way of damage is a small landslip at the top of the village and a footbridge lost.
