Cowdray

The Cowdray estate has featured in my blips a few times. Here is the coat of arms for the family. Their line is said to date back to John of Gaunt, son of Edward III. The symbolism of the crest illustrates this royal descent, though I can offer no further enlightenment I'm afraid, as the internet is rather coy about telling us what the individual features mean.
I shall ask the question the next time I bump into Viscount Cowdray ... ;-)
