Seven Sisters
Well, actually there are eight, because of a recent fall, but I'm not even sure I have all of them in, so don't bother counting
We had a drive down to the sea, thinking there would be wild waves on a windy day. Arrived at Birling Gap on the East Sussex coast, where there were indeed wild waves - wonderful to watch. And as it was high tide and the waves were colliding with the chalk cliffs, gleaming in the sunshine, it was easy to see how the erosion, which has taken place, has happened.
Had a few wanders over the lovely South Downs and then headed for Lewes, where we found a place I have wanted to visit for a long while - Virginia Woolf's home, Monks House. It is a delightful cottage and a charming garden, at the bottom of which is her 'writing hut' (see extra). She was the one who pointed out, in no uncertain terms, the need for a room of ones own - how I agree.
A lovely day . . . into London tomorrow.
