Yellow Spotted Salamander

Closing up the coop/run after the sun had gone down, I noticed in the beam of my flashlight some very colorful yellow spots. Getting closer it was a yellow spotted salamander in the chicken run! I have never seen one, though I know they are fairly common. Apparently everything in the world (including squirrels) wants to eat them ... so they hide in burrows the majority of their lives. I didn't want my birds to eat him, so I scooped him up and showed Mr. Badger, then I popped him into my herb garden so that he could hopefully hide in the rock wall and eat bugs in there.
