Long lost sister?

A gorgeous sunny day, after a night with long periods of torrential rain. We headed to Ferry Meadows again for our walk, but approached from the south side as there are always passable routes there. As expected, the water level had risen again and the majority of the riverside meadows were under water, much to the joy of an assortment of gulls and ducks and a solitary stalking heron. Unfortunately the birds were all too far away, so I contented myself with some general views of the flooding.

On our way back to the car we crossed paths with a couple who were walking their two dogs. We both stopped as there was a spooky resemblance between Rosie and their older dog, Tammy - the same colour fur, set of the ears and expression and not much difference is size. But the fur of their dog was wirier, and there was a hint of a drooping moustache, much more like Gemma. The eyes were also quite reminiscent of Gemma.

We got chatting and found out that the two dogs were the same age and had originated from the same rescue centre. We knew Gemma and Rosie were part of a large and varied litter, and the lady who owned Tammy had fostered her and two black male pups, who eventually went to other homes. The likelihood of there being two such similar sets of puppies at the same centre in the same year seemed low, so we concluded that Rosie and Tammy were probably litter mates. They certainly got on well and I think you can see the resemblance from the two photographs (Rosie, top; Tammy, below)
