Just before sunrise...

After Monday's disaster I agreed to drive Alex to Huntingdon today - though there was also a selfish element to this -the sky was largely clear and seemed promising for photography, and I thought I'd be able to walk the dogs nice and early. Mind you Gemma was less than impressed at having to leave her bed before it was light!

As soon as we got onto the main road, just before 7am, we were greeted by the most amazing dawn which just carried on becoming more glorious for the rest of the journey - treating us to an ever-changing array of reds, salmon-pink, yellows and jade green. Unfortunately there was no time to stop, and by the time I reached Huntingdon it had passed its crescendo. But I unceremoniously dumped Alex and the dogs and ran onto Portholme Meadow to capture its last throes, which you can see above.

The dogs and I walked along the River Ouse, crunching through the frosty grass and admiring the swirls of mist. I'd been feeling fairly fraught, because somehow, in setting up the new system, all the keywords in Elements Organiser had been lost, and I couldn't get the backup to work. I'd been awake since 4.30am fretting over all the organisation that would need to be re-done. But the quiet of the meadow, broken only by the dull roar of the traffic and the sweet song of a thrush, soon soothed my spirits.

With a bit of help from our computer guy, I've managed to recover all the data up to the end of July, but unfortunately the back-up I did just prior to the swap didn't work. Still, at least it gives me a chance to improve my key-wording system, and I think I'll probably be using Lightroom in preference, now I'm beginning to get to grips with it!! Luckily I haven't lost any actual photographs.
