Carlingwark
A small group of us from the church visited the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh today. This was the destination for the October 2018 version of our occasional 'Daytrippers' outings, aka Have Bus Pass, Will Travel.
The NMS is one of my favourite museums; I just love visiting there and today was no exception. The group decided that we'd visit those sections of the museum depicting Scotland Through The Ages, starting at the sixth floor (1900 - present) and work our way downwards (i.e. backwards in time in terms of the exhibits).
There was, of course, too much to see and appreciate in one go, but I did like this tankard handle (pictured above) from the late 1st / early 2nd century AD, part of the Carlingwark Loch hoard discovered in 1866.
