Xenic

I noticed that the only letter of the alphabet I haven't used yet for a blipfoto title is X. So I've plumped for xenic.

If I think hard enough I'm sure I can make the word xenic fit my picture - other than the obvious similarity with scenic.

Scrabble finder has been a bit lazy and has "No Definition of 'xenic' Found - It's still good as a Scrabble word though!"

(I don't play Scrabble, by the way - I'm absolutely rubbish at it!)

Wikipedia, on the other hand, has this: Xenic acid is a noble gas compound formed by the dissolution of xenon trioxide in water. Its chemical structure is H2XeO4. It is a very powerful oxidizing agent, and its decomposition is dangerous as it liberates a large amount of gaseous products-xenon, oxygen, and ozone.

Or how about: Xenic acid has been used as an oxidizing agent in organic chemistry.

So ... Ahem ... We left the house after Richard had finally and safely picked up Gemma from Bristol - after a few stressful days of travel and weather awfulness - and got out and oxidized ourselves at Putsborough beach. It was really xenic.

Ta dah!!

I'm bored with xenic now...
But it was lovely to get a break from the bad weather for a while and get out.

I woke to lovely clear skies and texted Gemma to get her out of bed. I then checked all the trains this morning between Oxford and Bristol. We decided last night to give up on Tiverton, Exeter and Taunton because of the flooding, and instead Richard drove up to Bristol.
We're just watching the news now and the stories about the floods, landslides, collapsing walls and people trapped in cars are pretty scary.

More bad weather and heavy rain is due over the weekend - I've no idea where all the water can go...

Once I was satisfied Gemma was really truly on her way home I wrote a short monologue: Forty Quid and Some Fruit for Friday Flash, and then tore around the house like a madwoman (I do this well - even if not happily) picking up family crap and washing.

We are pretty knackered now and I have ulcers on my tongue, a sore thoat and itchy inner ears. I'm hoping for an early night and some sleep.

We cancelled guitar lessons and have batoned down the hatches. I hope everyone stays safe this weekend.
