What a surprise, more lights from the night market
Sure it's predictable, and yes we have established my camera is not designed for night shots.....unfortunately I am designed for nights and the lights at the Chiang Mia night markets were too cool not to blip! They seemed to go for miles but these were my favourite, such awesome colours and designs! Did I buy any, you ask? Nope - not designed to be a shopper - the only person to ever go to Thailand and not buy anything - true story lol.
I actually did enjoy these markets though, they were filled with a variety of life and did not seem as 'desparate' as those in Bangkok. I did the traditional 'photo with the Thai lady-boys dressed in full vegas costumes' and felt very average - these guys made stunning women and comparatively I didn't rate (but I did get some great make-up tips from them)! I also ventured into the world of Thai Karaoke and provided considerable entertainment. Turns out my voice has a lot of 'unique qualities' and if I had to compare it to anything, I would prehaps remind you of my lack of co-ordination! (For the record, I was very good at riding the elephant so not all hope is lost!)
If in Chiang Mai, I would also recommend a visit to the Muay Thai boxing - very intense but worth seeing - these guys are exceptional fighters and so fast -glad I saw it in its home territory so to speak.
All in all, Chiang Mai made for an interesting adventure and I'm very glad I chose to go North - think I could find some more adventures up this way....you never know!
