Relaxing

After a couple of quite stressful days, we are feeling a bit more relaxed this evening.  Tony is home and looks amazing considering he had major surgery yesterday, testament I think to his fitness.  Several months ago he went to the GP because he was getting up in the night, tests followed culminating in a scan and a biopsy then prostate cancer was diagnosed.  The surgeon is confident that the cancer was retained in the prostate but Tony will be monitored closely for some time to come and his recovery from the operation will be several weeks.  I am writing this to alert menfolk to the need to be checked out if their nightly routine changes.  Tony had no other symptoms.

Thank you to everyone who has thought of us and sent us their positive wishes, it means a great deal.  Nearer to home friends and family have been generous with their support.  Please forgive my lack of commenting as we move in to the recuperation routine.

Today began with a hobble for me as we could not go to the hospital till the afternoon.  Jenny walked over then Pete arrived and we drove to the farmshop where Becky, still jet lagged, bought 2k of sausages instead of half a k, and we enjoyed that and this very chilled out goat with the one horn.

Becky ran back from Denholme to Jen and Pete's and we had lunch in Spoons before heading to the hospital where Tony was already out of bed and in his chair.  He was detached from various tubes and Becky had a lesson in delivering his daily injection to high approval by the staff nurse, then we were discharged and on our way home.

Jen has driven us all back and forth over the last couple of days, so once dad was comfortably installed, she went home and Becky set about making a huge pan of vegetable soup which was much enjoyed.  Such a relief to have Tony home and to have the girls and Pete on hand.
